Opinions Wanted

Here is my dilema - I am trying to reorganize my house so that I can have access to my library and be able to work on my crafts.  Some of what is taking up a lot of space is clothing.  Not clothing I can wear, but clothing I used to wear and would like to again.   I’m thinking I should just get rid of the majority of it since I haven’t worn it in years.  I am much closer to 40 than to 25.  While I was never one to follow trends so they wouldn’t stand out as “from the 90’s” per se.   Some of it is jeans and some tops.  A couple of pieces will be kept for sentimental reasons even if I were to get rid of the rest of it.

Should I dump it or keep it?  My big concern is that I really, really don’t want to look like a 40 year old trying to look 25 if I were able to wear the clothes again.   How long is too long to keep the “skinny” clothes?

Hmmm….I say dump the clothes and reward yourself with new ones when you reach your goal weight!! :)

I agree with stella! Donate those clothes to a charity, or even the thrift store. That’s what I do so that I don’t feel guilty getting rid of perfectly good clothing. A girl can always use a good excuse to go shopping!

My vote is to donate them to charity, saving one really nice outfit that’s timeless in style. Use it as a motivator for getting to goal weight!

I agree..dump the ones you can live without and when you reach goal go on a shopping spree! You may find you’ve developed a new style anyway hehe have a great weekend!

Dump ‘em! Give ‘em to charity, or have you tried freecycling? It’s an online group (tons and tons of local groups, actually) where people pass things to each other rather than filling the landfills. You know the things are going to someone who can really use them, and sometimes you come across stuff that you need. This week, I had a gallon sized ziplock bag full of stickers fall into my lap - just in time for potty training my toddler.

Okay, if you’re a crafty chica, do what I did. I took an old pair of (fat) jeans and made a tote bag and a pair of my skinny jeans and made a purse. This way I have a daily reminder of my goala and how far I’ve come.

let ‘em go!!!! Maybe save one extra special piece and then donate the rest! Or sell them on ebay…if you think you can? There is a great book I read recently, I think it was called, Does this junk make my butt look fat?…or something like that. It was good and talks about the purpose of the room–streamlining. Hope that helps!

Dump them…because WHEN you lose the weight not IF you will want to reward yourself with a awesome new wardrobe.
