No Salad Please!

I can’t eat it.  Until memories of my most recent salads fade, I will not be eating salad.  Slimy lettuce, bugs, worms - does not make for an appetizing meal.  I tried again last night and took two bites before finding something.   I just can’t do it.  Guess I’ll stick to my fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit and anything else that does not include lettuce.

Exercise is still a challenge.  Sometimes I think the planets are alligned against me.  I decide that I’m going to walk my dog every day and the temps shoot up along with humidity.  It was 83 degrees outside when I sent to bed last night at 10 p.m.  My little dog can’t handle that.  I decide to go to the gym by 9 in the morning and the kids sleep in until 8:30.   I decide to get up at 5 a.m. to do WATP and I don’t fall asleep until 2 a.m.  It’s frustrating, but I will exercise each day this week and take my dog for a walk on days when it is cool enough for her.

I find myself also not being able to eat salads anymore. Total burn out! I have to get myself back to exercising again too! Let’s go D! We can do it.

I switch between salads and cooked vegetables and soups. When I don’t vary things it gets boring and annoying too for me. I also hear you on things interfering with planned workouts, especially weather temperatures. It helps me to think ahead of time of the back up plan (e.g., having gym bag pack in my trunk, stopping at the gym on my work from work for a quick elliptical if it’s hot and humid outside). I admire your resolve!

Wow! Do you eat organic lettuce? That is the only time I have heard of someone finding bugs in greens (outside of eating in an restaurant). I eat packaged greens; so far no problems with bugs (or maybe I’m not looking close enough — which is better for me). I also have bouts with exercising. I can get in 30 minutes, but sometimes it is not achievable. Exercise when the spirit moves you. Remember, walking is exercise, and so is housework.

Got in 10 minutes. With the heat today, was able to get my heart rate up quickly. Did 1/2 mile and got my yard free of doggie stuff.

NJMom, yes, yesterday was organic, but that didn’t have bugs. Those have all been in regular lettuce.

i hear ya on the scheduling with the kiddos, the dog and the heat. i am still working it out, but partly it involves childcare or doing it when my hubby gets home. that’s all that works regularly. as for lettuce, i just washed a bunch of those bugs, etc down the drain. try soaking your lettuce in a big bowl for awhile, then drain that off and repeat a few times. then, rinse and put in a spinner. or, buy organic bagged lettuce :) also, if you can’t do lettuce, don’t worry so much but try and put other greens in your diet like spinach, broccoli, chard, and kale. i don’t like the dirt and bugs either!
