Can’t let this get me down

I had the follow up with my endocrinologist today.  Nothing wrong with my thyroid -yeah!  Have to have some tests redone because I was on a steroid when the tests were done and, despite what the lab techs said, they affected the outcome of several tests.  I need to have a couple more tests before she can make her official diagnosis, but she is pretty confident that it is PCOS.  I have to keep exercising and follow a diet low in sugar and simple carbs.  According to the tests, I was also deficient in Vit. D and pre-diabetic.  How fun.

I’m not going to let all this get me down.  Doing so will only make it worse because I would stop exercising.  It is very frustrating to exercise, watch my diet and have the scales stay the same.  I’m going to stop weighing myself every day even if it means putting a padlock on the scales (doctor style scales) and my husband having the key.  I will weigh in every Sunday morning (Yes, Foxes, I’m still in).

Well, I’ve got to go figure out what I can eat.  I didn’t think my diet was that bad, but apparently it’s not what it needs to be.

Please also remember, being on a steroid will make you gain weight, even if you are watching your weight. Good luck, and I hope your able to find something that will work for you. Don’t stop looking, there is something out there, it will just take some time to find it.

    Hey welcome to the club.
I have PCOS and am pre-diabetic. My doc recommended the GI diet. The idea basically is to let your body process the food rather than eating it already processed.
Eat fruit, don’t drink fruit juice etc.
If you follow that basic advice you’ll feel better, my symptoms are certainly better when I follow this diet.
    Hope it helps.

I am glad that you aren’t going to get down about it. I hope your retesting comes out with good news! Hang in there and keep fighting!

You sound like a fighter to me. I’m happy your thyroid checked out ok. I had blood work done recently also, mine was hormones…menopause “sigh” I am also pre-diabetic, so I can feel you on that one. I hope things look up for you, but stay strong and focused. Someone mentioned steroids will cause a weight gain, now that you are’nt on them I bet you’ll see the scales go down!! Big hugs for you…

You are right you can’t let this get you down. Hopefully your retest will give you better results. Seach out ways to eat less sugar in your meals and keep on exercising.

Although it seems like you’re in poor health right now, you have the power to change that…I hear losing only 10% of our weight does wonders for our health…so, let’s dust ourselves off and shoot for 10!
