It’s only Tuesday?!

Question Mark I’ve been working my butt off, hopefully literally, this week.  It seems like the last two days have lasted about a week each.  Some friends are stopping by on Friday before continuing on to relatives on Saturday.  Saturday night my MIL and a BIL are coming and not leaving until the 5th.  I’m trying to get my house cleaned and organized before they all arrive.  So far today I’ve don’t nearly 12,000 steps and I still have to take the dogs for a walk.  Its the organization part that gets me.  I can’t figure out where to put anything.  I’ve lived here for nearly 2 years and I still don’t have my books unpacked.  That would require shelving and before shelving can be put up, I need to paint the walls.  I’m sure the kids would love to help me paint, but I think the little one would end up trying to eat it and the older one would paint everything but the walls.  And I also have to make some Sponge Bob candies for a birthday cake for Friday.    So, I guess I should stop typing and get to work!

Have a great evening.

Rant Alert

Grrr Why do restaurants assume that vegetarians have no taste buds?  Do they really think that we are so desperate for fast food that we will eat anything they hand us?  In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m vegetarian.  My kids and husband are not.  I stopped by McDonalds on the way home from shopping to get the kids their bi-weekly chicken and decided to just get a sandwich there instead of going to Subway.   I’ve done it before.  I ordered the Big n’ Tasty without meat and the reaction to that should have been a clue to just cancel the order.  When I got home I pulled out a tiny little sandwich with 3 pickle slices, a tiny piece of lettuce and a tomato decal.  If I’d wanted bread and pickles, I would have made it at home!  It was so terrible I couldn’t even finish it.

rn

The other thing that gets me is frozen pizza.  I know, I know, I shouldn’t even be looking at them.  Just because I’m vegetarian does not mean I eat broccoli and spinach on a pizza!  Why don’t they ever put traditional toppings like green peppers, mushrooms (not portabello) and onion on them?  Why does it always have to be strange things.  Okay, nothing as startling as peas and corn that I’ve had, but not toppings you will find at a pizzaria.

rn

And for family get togethers (this one is just a complaint agains my in-laws) CHICKEN BROTH is NOT vegetarian!  Potatoes and stuffing made with it are not something I will eat!  The very thought of it turns my stomach.  I am vegetarian because thought of eating an animal disgusts me.  It’s not a moral thing, though I don’t like how animals are treated.  It’s not a religious thing, though I was raised vegetarian because of religion.  I just don’t want to.  What I do want is food that tastes good when I don’t make it myself.  Okay, even when I do make it myself.  Not the greatest cook in the world but I at least know how to make tofu edible.

rn

Okay, the rant is over.  Just needed to get it out.  Thanks for listening.

Moving along

Well, I haven’t been able to exercise much the past few days.  It’s   been so hot and humid in addition to my nose being stuffy.  I just can’t breathe very well.  Still managed to lose a pound so I’m only 4 pounds from my mini goal.  Hopefully I’ll hit that before company gets here the end of next week.  With all the house work I’ve got to do, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.  I hate things being dirty, but I don’t care if they’re organized unless I’m expecting company.  I can always find what I’m looking for.  Drives hubby crazy.

Well, I’m off to get the laundry caught up once and for all.  I know, my mom always said one should be laying down when dreaming.  I figure I must have something to apire to!

Bouncy 5

ARRRGHHHHH!

Bounce I was on such a roll last week.  I worked out twice at the gym, did 5-6 miles a day, ate right then came the weekend.  ChipsMy son kept me up all night Friday night so no walk with the dog Saturday morning.    Saturday I was so tired I couldn’t barely function.  This morning I woke up with the cold my son is now almost over.  At least I know why I was tired.  I was just getting ready to head out for my walk with the pup and the kids came bopping downstairs.  My daughter had wet her bed and was soaked.  Had to get her cleaned up then get hubby up so I could start laundry.

rn

ButterflyThis afternoon we met some friends at a butterfly show.  Butterflies from Africa - cool.  Temp and humidity level in butterfly area - HIGH!  I think I sweat more than during a workout!  My kids loved   all the butterflies so it was worth it.  I was extremely happy to get into the pool when we got home, though.

rn

Bench PressI’m planning to get back on track in the morning.  Too late to do much tonight.  I have a newsletter to get finished and sent to the printer so I can pick it up on Wednesday.  I am hoping my daughter doesn’t get this cold so I can go to the gym tomorrow.  Even if she does, I think I’ll go when hubby gets home from work if I don’t make it in the morning.

Have a good evening everyone!

Fitness Challenge Game

Has anyone used this?  My husband just ordered it from Amazon yesterday.  I’ve been exercising nearly every day for months now.  I think he’s under the impression that I’m still not very strong.  Hehe.  This should be fun.  From the descriptions I’ve read it sounds good.

rn

I didn’t go to the gym today, but I’m still getting my cardio in.  For some reason I’ve thought it was Friday all day long.  Wishful thinking, I guess.  Of course, the weekend means I have to walk my dog first thing in the morning.  Fun, fun, fun.  I measured out 1.5 miles yesterday so that will be my turning around point.  Still have to take the other dog for a walk in the evening.  I just hope it helps calm the pup down.  I’m about at the end of my leash with her.

rn

Oh, oh, oh.  Last summer my husband bought a deck chair that looked really comfy.  Well, my big butt couldn’t fit in it.  I sat down in it today with no problems.  Just got an ad from Bed Bath and Beyond advertising that they are now selling oversized ones.  No need for that here!

rn

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Thoughts

I found this on the internet while looking for something else today and though others might enjoy it as well.

rn

How do I change?
If I feel depressed I will sing.
If I feel sad I will laugh.
If I feel ill I will double my labour.
If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.
If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.
If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.
If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.
If I feel incompetent I will think of past success.
If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.
Today I will be the master of my emotions.

-Og Mandino, ?The Greatest Salesman in the World?

I’m certainly getting my exercise in lately.  I decided that instead of sitting on the couch watching The Biggest Loser reruns, I would exercise while I watched them.  My 3 year old did some of it with me yesterday.  Today she wanted to dance.  Not quite sure what I was doing, but she called it dancing.

rn

Yesterday I did 5.75 miles of steps for the day and 20 minutes of treading water.  Since my evening today will not include taking the dogs for a walk (hubby is working late) I’ll do some more inside while I watch TV.  I will also be cleaning the kitchen and the den.  In-laws are coming to visit 4th of July and I don’t want to be running around like a madwoman cleaning the day before they get here.  I will probably be doing that anyway, but it won’t take me as long to get everything picked up!

rn

Got half of my weights workout in while DD had her swimming lesson today.  Was pretty wiped from a sleepless night so I’m going back tomorrow to do the rest of it.

rn

Gotta get kids to bed.  Have a great evening!

Need a new walking route

Walking DogI started walking the dogs for 1.5 miles in the evening and now my walk takes me 45 - 60 minutes instead of 30.  No, it doesn’t actually take me that long to walk it, but the route now takes me by   neighbors that I’m finally meeting.  There are 2 in   particular that absolutely love my dogs and love to chat.  At least I get in a mile before getting there.  I have enjoyed the chats, so it’s not really bad.
PillowI still can’t manage to get myself up in the morning to take the pup for a long walk.  Put up light blocking drapes so I’ve been sleeping better and catching up on sleep.  I am going to start this weekend so I’ll have two days of it before I have to get up even earlier.  Now everyone bug me on Monday to make sure I’ve done it!

rn

Have a great Tuesday!

One star!

I’ve never been happier to see two little red stars go away.  I now have my green star for 25 pounds lost.  Only 2 more pounds and I will have lost 10% of my body weight since starting.

rn

And now I must get ready for the day which includes a trip to Jungle Jims for all my produce.  The list for that is getting almost as long as the one for the regular grocery store.  For those of you not familiar with that store, you can check it out at Junglejims.com.  I go for produce and international items.  It’s also a tourist attraction here, which can be annoying.  I just love people taking pictures while I’m trying to shop! (Not of me but everything around!)

rn

Have a great day.

Olive Garden

Last night went very well.  The scales were down a little this morning.  Hadn’t realized how long I’ve been eating healthier pasta, not whole wheat, but not white either.  I really didn’t like it last night.  It had no taste.  And I discovered an appitizer that isn’t their artichoke spinach dip.

rn

Okay, my son is stipping and he’s not potty trained.

rn

Have a great day everyone.

Tough day

Well, I did set the alarm for 4:55 this morning.  At 3 a.m. when my son finally stayed asleep, I turned it off so I could get 2.5 hours of sleep.  Don’t know what was up with him, but he didn’t want to sleep at all.   We are headed to the gym in a bit so I will get that workout in today, provided my son will stay in child watch without big sis.

rn

This evening I won’t get my walk in because I’m going to a Mom’s Night Out.  Have never done that before so I’m rather nervous.  I don’t know anyone that is going to be there and it is at The Olive Garden.  And to top it all off TOM arrived today.

rn

Gotta get ready to go.  Have a great day everyone!
