Joining a gym

Well, my husband agreed to join the local Y in March.  Now I just have to up hold my end of the bargin and exercise this month.  It’s already the 4th and I have yet to do more than 10 minutes.  I know it sounds crazy to have to prove myself, but he is working really hard to make sure I can stay home with our two children and I don’t have a good track record with diet and exercise.  I think it’s only fair to him that I prove I’m serious before we spend money on a membership.  But, he does think it is a good idea.  No more donuts or cookies is my new mantra.  I’ll stick to cake decorating.  Love to decorate, but can’t stand to eat more than a tiny piece since I started decorating them. 

It’s a Jungle Out There

Well, Jungle Jim’s anyway.  It’s this really cool store near where I live that has great food - baked goods, candy, and yes, produce, though I didn’t enter that section today.  I needed to get some candy, the only thing that is motivating my daughter to use the potty, and JJ’s has the best selection.  That area is right next to the bakery.  I thought I was going to come away with just the rewards for dd, until I saw blueberry bread.  Hadn’t had that in years so I bought it in a moment of weakness.  Have only had 2 slices, without butter or margirine, but it’s just sitting there on the counter.  I think I need to resolve only to go to the store only on weekends when it is really busy and I don’t want to be there long enough to look for anything besides what I went there for.  Now I must go do my exercise for the day.  Made a deal with hubby that if I exercise 5 days a week for this month, we will both join the local Y so I can exercise and not have to worry about the kids. 

Question about exercise

Are daily activites such as sleeping, eating, sitting, etc. included in the basal metibolic needs for a day?    I was talking with someone earlier today and they enter everything like that, but it seems to me that those types of activites are accounted for in the amount of calories need per day.
